interesting potential for spanish office furniture Germany is one of the most attractive markets in Europe, but time has shown that it is one of the most difficult, according to seminar conclusions from the "the German office furniture market" organised by ICEX and the FAMO association (Office Furniture Manufacturing association). Mario Buisán- economic office head and spanish commercial business advisor in Dusseldorf, analysed the volume, structure and commercialisation channels of the market. He explained that it is the largest european market and going through a phase of recession at the moment. In 2002 Germany imported office furniture worth 252million euros, behind 308 million euros in 2001 The main suppliers are Italy, Poland, Switzerland and Denmark, Busián indicated. In 2002 spanish shipments to Germany reached 3,7 million euros, uniquely taking 3.3% of our foreign office furniture sales. He also explained that in Germany the main form of commercialisation is through specialised business (44.7% of furniture is sold in this market), 10.7% is distributed in general furniture shops (all types of furniture, not just office), 12.6% by catalogue, 17.4% by business contract, 5.7% office furniture auto service and furniture kit (transport and setting up) at 7.1%. |
